•   Basic manual digitizing techniques

•   Digitizing intermediate design with shading
•   Templates
•   Creating Fur in designs
•   Creating and using Pattern Outlines
•   Using fancy fills on an intermediate level
•   Lettering review
•   Working with hoops
•   Magic Wand
•   Auto Digitizing Tools
•   Auto Appliqué techniques

Class Pre-requisite: This class is an intermediate skill level.  You should be familiar with the artista software basic use - How to open designs, where the basic customizing function icons are and how to use them.  It is not necessary for you to have digitized designs for this class.  We will start with basic manual digitizing techniques. There is still time to register and take your guide class if you haven’t done so already.

You will need your laptop computer with either Artista Version 4.0 or 5.0 installed, with proper specifications for your computer. There will not be time in class to troubleshoot a computer that does not meet minimum specifications, so please be sure your computer is functioning properly. As always, handle your software dongle with care and transport it carefully.

Lunch will be catered by Athens Pizza. If you need a vegetarian meal, please let us know BEFORE the seminar begins so we an accommodate your needs.

Your seminar fee of $325.00 includes lunch on Friday and Saturday, all breaks and snacks, seminar workbook.

Early registration bonus: Register before July 15, 2006 and save $50.00 off the registration price, making your early registration $275.00. You can save an additional $25 off your seminar registration by pre-ordering and placing a $100 deposit on your Version 5.0 software before July 15, 2006 (offer cannot be combined with other software promotions). You may also attend Kim’s What’s New in Embroidery Seminar and Pizza Party on Thursday evening, October 19th as our guest.

Seating is reserved in order of seminar reservation. If you are attending with a friend and would like to sit together, kindly let us know at the time of reservation. Every effort will be made to accommodate your request. Don’t let the best seats get away from you—reserve your seat today!

Retreat policies:
No children or babies may attend the seminar.
If you do not have a laptop, you may rent a desktop from ASC, however the ASC desktop computers will be in the back of the room so they do not obstruct the view of other students. For rental information, please see your ASC associate.
You must have either Artista Software version 4.0 or 5.0 loaded on your computer before class begins.
A deposit of $100 will hold your seat. Seating is assigned in order of registration, with first students to register on the front row. The balance of your retreat fee is due in full by August 1, 2006.
The last day to cancel and receive a full refund is August 1, 2006. Registrations canceled after 8/1 but before 8/15 will receive a 50% refund, and no refunds can be given after August 15, 2006.

About Kim Goodwin

Kim Goodwin brings over 27 years of experience to the embroidery field in the home and commercial markets as well as a "lifetime" of sewing. As an internationally acclaimed digitizer and freelance teacher of embroidery and embroidery consultant her travels have taken her across the US and around the world.  She was the product manager for Wilcom Int'l Pty, Sydney, Australia, including artista and Explorations software development and support teams for the last 8 years.  Kim has just recently joined OESD as General Manager.  You will recognize some of her works in the earlier Bernina design collections such as Beatrix Potter, Lucy Riggs, and Precious Moments, Suzy Zoo Babies, Debbie Mum.  She is a former Bernina dealer and custom embroidery retailer.  Kim is originally from Arkansas and currently lives in Oklahoma City.

    If you have designs cd roms for your Artista 200 that are ‘locked’ to the cd drive, you may be able to exchange some of these cards that you can use in your computer with your Artista software.
