At Atlanta Sewing Center, we enjoy giving back to our community sew much that we want to share it all with you!
Take a look below at the groups and organizations that we work with that make such a heart-warming impact in our area.
Helping Hands for Tiny Stitches
Lately, we have been working with Gwinnett County-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Tiny Stitches. This special organization provides basic clothing and other items to disadvantaged newborns and preemies in North Georgia. One of the several ways they help those in need within the area, Tiny Stitches provides burial ensembles to any family that suffers the loss of an infant -- regardless of their financial status. They also provide garments and other requested items to NICU's in local hospitals. Unfortunately, many mothers in this area have had no prenatal care, delivered their babies at home, or at walk-in clinics. It is essential that we help those mothers and babies in need, especially those with absolutely nothing. For additional information, please visit Tiny Stitches' website at www.tinystitches.org
The Atlanta [American Sewing Guild] Chapter Welcomes You
Each month a chapter of the American Sewing Guild meets at our Duluth store, working on several charitable projects!
To give you quick summary, the American Sewing Guild is a membership organization that welcomes sewing enthusiasts of all skill levels and from many different walks of life. Chapters are located in cities all across the country [click here for Atlanta's Chapter] and members meet monthly to learn new sewing skills, network with others who share an interest in sewing and participate in community service sewing projects. Membership in the Guild gives you an opportunity to experience your love of any type of home sewing with others who share your interest.
Pillowcases-Turn-Quilts for Children in Need
Heads up: our Duluth store is a drop-off location for pillowcases for this worthy cause, Quilts for Kids!
Quilts for Kids is a nonprofit organization dedicated to brightening the lives of children who suffer from abuse or life-threatening illnesses. With the help of respected fabric manufacturers, generous volunteers, and donors, they transform high quality fabrics into patchwork quilts that offer comfort to children in need. To learn more about Quilts for Kids, you can explore their website here to see what good things they're doing in every community!
When brought to the store, all of the items are donated to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and other area hospitals.
